SARAWAK:

This year's Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will be a musical showcase including a review of former RWMF performances as well as fresh pre-recorded sessions with domestic talent. Every day from 6:00 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. (GMT+8) on June 18-20, 2021, the concerts will be streamed on RWMF's official website, rwmf.net.
The three-day online class is free of charge, and registration is already open.

Sarawakian performers Alena Murang, Kemada, Sang Rawi, At Adau, Tuku Kame, Suk Binie', Nading Rhapsody, and Mathew Ngau will light up the screens in between flashbacks of beloved musical performances from prior years, interviews with RWMF forerunners and personalities, and giveaway sessions.

“With Covid-19 hampering world travel, it’s important for us to remember the iconic Rainforest World Music Festival during the pandemic. Our online musical showcase this year attempts to recreate a virtual experience for those who are missing the excitement and merriment of our annual RWMF and build up their anticipation for RWMF 2022,” said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“I believe that RWMF 2021’s theme – Entranced, Liberated, Immersed – captures the spirit of the RWMF as a whole, and we look forward to being able to hold it in a big way for RWMF 2022 which is tentatively scheduled for 17-19 June", he added.

Meanwhile, spectators at home who missed the annual musical event may relive the experience by choosing from a variety of concerts, workshops, and even food delivery via GrabFood, all of which can be found on rwmf.net. On the workshop website, you may view daytime workshops and performances from prior years from virtual SCV longhouses, much like at the actual festival.

Viewers can order and dine in at their leisure through Grabfood and Shopee, the RWMF's official delivery and e-commerce partners, or acquire exclusive and limited edition goods like a T-shirt or cloth face mask to commemorate the RWMF's first-ever virtual experience.

Music fans must register to be eligible for the giveaways to be held during the online streaming, where they can win free tickets to RWMF 2022, discounts to select hotels, RWMF merchandise and much more.
