MALAYSIA:

Ancient buildings serve as a reminder of a place's cultural value by allowing visitors to feel a connection to the past.

The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) intends to emphasize this city's historical legacy.

Old buildings with their original structure remaining intact, according to Mayor Dr. Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid, give the neighborhood character.

If their historical worth is promoted, he noted, they both draw tourists and economic investments.

In 2028, Shah Alam will mark 50 years since being a city.

"Identifying, enhancing, preserving, and promoting the city's historical riches is one of its plans. Retracing heritage locations will help us go back in time and see the steps that were taken to become a city, he continued.

Nor Fuad claimed that an oil palm plantation had stood in Shah Alam.

At the Little Clean Zone Recognition Ceremony, also known as Mini Zee Bee, held at the MBSA Convention Centre in Section 13, Shah Alam, said, "We want the people to know how an oil palm farm transformed into being Shah Alam."

He claimed that to understand how the councils told the histories of their separate regions, MBSA held several meetings with other authorities around the nation.

"We also want to know how Sungai Klang is helping Shah Alam develop.

"MBSA must choose how to promote traditional communities and Sungai Air Kuning Dam as tourist destinations.

Nor Fuad claimed that an oil palm plantation had stood in Shah Alam.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) constructed a dam at the Botanical Garden in the 1930s. Residents of the Klang district at the time received water from it.

He continued, "It is still in good shape, and we intend to turn it into a tourist attraction, but we need to talk to DID about this.

Before the event, Nor Fuad gave the winners of the Little Clean Zone Appreciation competition RM28,000 in prizes for maintaining their neighborhood's cleanliness and having miniature vegetable gardens.

Three resident associations each received RM 1,000 in cash and a thank-you card.

Three more resident's associations each earned RM3,000 in cash prizes as well as an appreciation certificate, while eight other resident's associations each received RM2,000 in cash awards.

All resident representative councils were introduced to the Little Clean Zone Appreciation competition in 2013.
