Taiwan extends suspension until the end of August for all overseas tours

TAIPEI :

Taiwanese travel agencies are allowed to cancel all inbound and outbound tours till the end of August as the pandemic has not shown any recovering signs.

The tourism bureau said initially the ban was scheduled to last until the end of July.

Taiwan has completed 101 days without new local COVID 19 cases. In recent weeks, while there have been some more new imported cases, the number of confirmed cases has gone up by 15 million worldwide, with over 610,000 casualties, according to the statistics reported on the WHO website.

The bureau said it planned to extend the ban further to Aug 31, according to the steps of the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) for disease prevention.

Taiwan is currently banning foreign nationals with few exceptions, and all arrivals in the abroad including Taiwanese citizens are subject to a quarantine period of 14 days upon entry.
