THAILAND:

Thailand will host an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) tourism summit, which will be attended by Transportation Minister Wang Kwo-Tsai (Aug. 17).

Thailand will play home to many APEC events in 2022, including the leaders' summit in November and the 11th Tourism Ministerial Meeting on Thursday, August 19, which will focus on reviving tourism following the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to CNA, Wang will discuss Taiwan's initiatives to promote travel with a focus on sustainable development and the nation's forests' ability to regenerate. The minister stated that in keeping with the "Open. Connect. Balance" theme of APEC 2022 and the environment, he would also promote marine transport and bike paths.

While the region is thinking about removing travel restrictions in the wake of the pandemic, sustainable growth must also be taken into account as Taiwan works toward its zero-carbon target for 2050, officials said.
