Tenom district has the ability to attract tourist

The district has become one of the most frequently visited and supported regions.Datuk Peter Anthony, minister of State Infrastructure, said Tenom will reach its goal as a tourist center thanks to the cooperation of all parties including the County Office and other governmental agencies, this district is popular for the coffee and other tourist attractions.

He said Tenom could attract tourists because there are many good products from tropical forests, natural flora, fauna and local fruit.

The district is advancing in tourism items, in particular with the cooperation of agencies that have chosen and developed the tourism centre, and with the district's cleanliness, "he said.

He was talking in the city field in front of Tenom Railway Station on the launch of a map or a plan diagram.

Once visitors came by train, he said that they would see the map guide to help navigate to attraction locations and get to know the place.Also Peter, a member of the Assembly of Melalap, called on the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the state to administer the Pulong Murut Cultural Center, which is neglected and must be operated as soon as possible in order to support the culture of Murut in that district.

With regard to the cancelation of the proposed Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS), he claimed that the Government was always attentive to the citizens of Sabah's wishes.

"The cancelation of the PSS is a noble effort to meet demands and grievances made by the people, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Safie Apdal. For us, the voice of the people is important".

"We will give priority to doing this if there is a demand from voters, let alone as a local party," he said.

Also present was the Political Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure Development, Jack Jatil, District Officer, Sungkim Rumangun, Community Development Leader for the Melalap state assembly constituency, Nossil Basayuh, ethnic Chinese community chieftains as well as local community leaders.
