The first Penang International Jewellery Show will be held on 24th -26th April 2020 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.
The three-day event will bring in 100 international buyers from 20 countries to partake in this B2B event. They will be introduced to the local gold suppliers.
Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the event will share to public the development and market composition of Penang's jewelry industry in terms of business model, market segmentation and supply chain to ensure the Penang gold industry's voice is heard on the global stage.
The PGIJS 2020 event expects to display over 50,000 pieces of the lavish and latest jewelry collections.
" We believe that with PGIJS 2020, Penang's profile in the jewelry industry will be further known in the Asian market and will additionally increase the awareness of its international show brand throughout Malaysia and the rest of the global industry", said Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekaran.
The event will look forward to receiving more than 500 expert jewelers from local and abroad, according to Valuqo Sdn Sdn Bhd director Ooi Chai Yong.
As part of the exhibition, the event will also have a sharing session on topics focusing more on new gold jewelry designs, and new technologies introduced by international manufacturers and jewelers in the industry.
PGIJS 2020 is supported by the Penang government, PCEB, Malacca Goldsmith Merchants Association, and Goldsmiths Federation and Malaysia Jewellers Associations.
Also present were Goldsmiths Federation and Malaysia Jewellers Associations president Datuk Steven Siow Dek Kuen and its deputy president Chiah Hock Yew.
