Tourism Malaysia is confident to achieve the target set for 85 million domestic tourists

A target of 85.2 million domestic tourists with an estimated RM68.5 billion in tourist spending this year will be achieved if there is no major disaster in the country.

Tourism Malaysia deputy director (Planning) Zulkifly Md Said said local tourism industry players should seize the opportunity by being more proactive and creative in promoting their products to attract domestic tourists using the services offered.

"Last year, domestic tourists recorded 78.2 million people with total tourism spending of RM60.4 billion," he told a press conference after launching the 'Malaysia Holidays Travel 2019', here today.

He said the three-day Malaysia Holidays adventure exhibition held this Sunday at the IOI City Mall here targeted a package sale of RM1 million.

A total of 30 companies including travel agents, hotels and tourism product operators offer affordable package prices by targeting residents around Putrajaya and the Klang Valley.
