During a courtesy call in Malacanang on Thursday, "High School Musical" actress Vanessa Hudgens was appointed a worldwide tourism ambassador for the Philippines (March 30).

As seen in a photo taken by photographer Magic Liwanag and posted on Publicity Asia's Instagram page, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., Secretary Christina Garcia- Frasco of the Department of Tourism, and Secretary Paul Soriano of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications presented Hudgens with the honorary title.

The Presidential Communications Office afterwards posted pictures of the occasion to Facebook.

The popular television actress who is Filipino-American and best known for playing Gabriella Montez on the show is presently in the country to film a documentary series that will be based in Manila and Palawan.

Given that Hudgens' mother Gina is rumored to be Filipino, the show will allegedly center on her discovering her roots.

The "The Princess Switch" actor previously shared photos of her sister Stella and herself swimming in the lagoons of El Nido, Palawan, on Instagram.

Hudgens, a first-time visitor to the Philippines, called the country "heaven," as she was seen swimming in crystal-clear waters or paddling a pristine kayak.
