MALAYSIA:

Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN), which is supported by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), has launched the pilot project for Malaysia Virtual Experience (MyVXp).

MyVXp is an online experience bundle of tourist items, tourist attractions, and destinations in Malaysia that aims to improve the new level of tourist experience – virtual tourist and virtual travel.

“The model is also expected to be one of the marketing tools to upsell tourist attractions and destinations once tourist activities begin to increase,” MPC said in a statement.

TPN and MPC developed the business model that includes the key operation, resources, partnerships, costs, value proposition, customer relations, channel, marketing strategy, payment strategy, and income stream in order to achieve this initiative.

According to Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman, MPC General Director, the model is tailored to MPC 's efforts to leverage technology for enabling and catalyzing growth in productivity as the movement restriction remains in place.

“Since the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), MPC has been venturing into maximizing technology and digitalisation to maintain, if not to increase the productivity level of the industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, TPN Champion Uzaidi Udanis said that MyVXp is a prerequisite for reinventing tourism goods, market segmentation, and marketing strategies tailored to the present situation.

He said MyVXp will help industry players in implementing the new standard in the tourism sector, building capacity and skill, and offering the general public a virtual choice of places and attractions.
