YB Bakhtiar says SATTE holds a lot of opportunities for VMY2020

Informa Market’s 27th edition of SATTE (South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange) opened this year at the India Expo Mart in the city of Greater Noida in the state of Delhi, India.

Participants from over 50 countries and several tourism boards, in addition to 54 companies from Malaysia have arrived at the Expo Centre today, January 8, to join in on the SATTE that will be ongoing till January 10. During the 3 days, 1100+ exhibitors, 700+ buyers, and about 32000+ travel trade attendees will interact during the event. More than 30,000 travel and tourism professionals are set to attend the show. The event endeavors to analyze trends, forecast future developments, come up with viable solutions and help businesses thrive. 

The marquee expo was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Shri Prahalad Singh Patel Ji, Union Minister for State for Tourism & Culture (I/C), Government of India along with key dignitaries- Mansukh L Mandaviya Ji, Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping, Govt. of India, YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Ms. Nia Niscaya, Deputy Minister of Tourism Marketing, Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Michael Goh, President, Dream Cruises & Head of International Sales, Genting Cruise Lines; Mr. Subhash Goyal, Hony. Secretary, FAITH, Mr. Michael Duck, Executive Vice President, Informa Markets – Asia; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India and Ms. Pallavi Mehra, Group Director, Informa Markets in India, amidst an august gathering. 

YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik , Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia said the Indian market is very strong for Malaysia Tourism, a growth of 25.5 percent is seen from Jan to November last year. He added “Indian market has always been on top 6 of tourism arrival list to Malaysia. SATTE is very crucial for Visit Malaysia 2020 which made us bring 40 organizations mainly from the state government, hotels, resorts and industry players who will showcase a good B2B platform and eventually bring more people to Malaysia. We have airlines promoting 230 flights a week flying from India to Malaysia which makes India a promising market and will continue to grow”. 

Datuk KL Tan, President Matta said: “We’re already happy with the participation, it is very encouraging as we’re receiving inquiries not only for traditional markets but Penang, Malacca, Langkawi and from the east coast we’re getting inquiries for Sabah and Sarawak”.

SATTE 2020 received active support from various Indian and International travel and trade associations, wedding planners, corporate travel decision-makers and investors amongst others. While Indonesia is the Premium Partner country for SATTE 2020, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Sri Lanka are Partner Countries. Mauritius is the Feature Country for SATTE 2020.
