All passengers ferry to Langkawi must wear masks before their boarding is permitted.
The order was to protect the public and ferry crew from COVID 19 infection, Langkawi Maritime Officer Ghadzali Ahmad said.
"Anyone who refuses to adhere to the Directive will not be permitted to board on the ferry", he said.
Ghadzali told the newest directive notice would be shown on ticket counters.
Consortium Ferris Line Captain Baharin Baharom has confirmed the company will sell only half the seats so that passengers can decrease each trip.
The change will allow one meter of space between passengers as the Ministry of Health recommends.
