Ferry consortium receives order from MOT to withdraw additional charges

Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd has received an order from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to withdraw the additional charges on passengers buying a ticket for the trips to Langkawi-Kuala Kedah and Langkawi-Kuala Perlis.

Mohd Hafiz Abdul Majid, Director of Marine Department Northern Region said that the consortium has requested to charge passengers RM10 extra for both trips to cover costs after the social distancing of ferries has been introduced.

He added that the application was rejected and the company could not impose the surcharge.

He said it was found, that some passengers have purchased tickets with the surcharge and added the tickets are for today and tomorrow journeys.

“Those who have bought the tickets are requested to contact the consortium for a refund of the surcharge,” he said.

The one-way ticket for the trip Langkawi-Kuala Kedah is RM23 for adults and RM17 for children, while the Langkawi-Kuala Perlis trip is RM18 for adults and RM13 for children.
