Malaysia Airlines has expanded its popular Bonus Side Trip (BST) programme, offering international travellers complimentary domestic return flights to seven secondary destinations across Malaysia. The initiative aims to enhance travel convenience and encourage deeper exploration of Malaysia’s diverse regions ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Available to passengers transiting through Kuala Lumpur, the BST programme includes free return flights to Langkawi, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu, and Kota Bharu—all known for their unique blend of culture, nature, and heritage.
Designed as a seamless addition to any Malaysia Airlines international ticket, the BST offer integrates effortlessly into the booking process, allowing global travellers to enrich their Malaysian holiday without incurring extra costs or travel complexity.
“Malaysia Airlines invites global travellers to experience more and uncover the vibrant beauty of Malaysia,” said Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines, Malaysia Aviation Group. “The Bonus Side Trip goes beyond connectivity, curating experiences that extend our Malaysian Hospitality into every corner of the country.”
This strategic move supports the airline’s goals to drive sustainable tourism and stimulate inclusive regional growth by funnelling international footfall into lesser-known yet equally captivating parts of the country. It also benefits local economies and small businesses by increasing exposure to a wider tourism market.
To promote the initiative, Malaysia Airlines recently hosted international influencers from India, Australia, China, and Thailand on a curated tour of Langkawi—one of the BST destinations. The itinerary included highlights such as Kilim Geoforest Park, Langkawi SkyCab, and local artisan experiences, offering a glimpse into Malaysia’s rich natural and cultural tapestry.
The Bonus Side Trip is part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader commitment to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a multi-destination hub in Southeast Asia and a preferred gateway for international travellers.
