Dubai:

The UAE’s travel and tourism sector is undergoing a profound transformation, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerging as a game-changer in how travellers plan, book, and experience their journeys. According to a recent Tourism Economics report commissioned by Arabian Travel Market (ATM), 60% of UAE travellers now use AI tools in various aspects of their trip planning—a figure that significantly exceeds the global average of 48%.

This growing reliance on AI highlights the UAE’s leadership in digital innovation and its tech-forward approach to enhancing travel experiences. AI is no longer just a backend tool for logistics—it’s becoming central to personalising and optimising the entire journey, from discovery to post-trip engagement.

UAE at the Forefront of AI Travel Adoption

Nearly six in ten travellers in the UAE report using AI-powered solutions such as chatbots, itinerary generators, and booking assistants. One in five travellers have already relied on AI during their most recent trip. This rising trend is fuelled by the demand for efficiency, real-time updates, and customised experiences that modern travellers expect.

Tech innovations such as SynXis Concierge AI and Miral’s AI concierge systems at destinations like Yas Bay Waterfront and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi are setting global benchmarks. These platforms offer tailored suggestions, automated responses, and real-time guidance, enhancing tourist engagement while reducing friction points in their travel journey.

Beyond Planning: AI Reshaping Travel Business Operations

AI’s impact extends beyond the consumer experience to the heart of business operations across airlines, hotels, and travel agencies. From handling customer queries to managing bookings and analysing data trends, AI tools are helping businesses streamline operations and improve service delivery.

In the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector, AI is being used to translate content in real-time, source suppliers, and personalise experiences for attendees—transforming how large-scale events are organised and executed.

The Balance Between Technology and Human Touch

While AI is enhancing speed and convenience, experts stress the importance of preserving human connection in hospitality. Speaking at ATM 2025, Amy Read, VP of Innovation at Sabre Hospitality, underscored that AI is best used to enhance—not replace—human interactions. AI concierge systems like Majd Al in Abu Dhabi allow hotel staff to focus on complex, high-value guest interactions by offloading routine queries to automation.

Looking Ahead: A Tech-Driven, Human-Centred Future

As AI becomes more integrated into the tourism ecosystem, the UAE is poised to lead the way in building a hybrid tourism model—one where technology and human service coexist seamlessly. AI will continue to play a pivotal role in increasing operational efficiency, boosting personalisation, and driving economic impact.

With 60% of travellers already engaging with AI, the UAE’s travel industry is setting the pace for a future where intelligent, intuitive, and immersive experiences redefine the global tourism landscape.
