Egypt, China’s Xinjiang discuss holding tourism exhibitions in Cairo by 2024

Xinjiang Tourism Administration and Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities are in talks to hold the "Is a Wonderful Place" dancing show and the "Xinjiang Cultural Week" in Egypt in 2024, according to Wang Jie, Deputy Director-General of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Culture and Tourism Department.
Jie noted that Xinjiang recently played host to the sixth World Dance Festival, which featured many international performances with the participation of artists from many nations around the world. A two-day ballet performance was also part of the festival in Urumqi.
She emphasized the recent direct collaboration and communication with Egyptian cultural authorities, where events were planned with the involvement of both parties.
She went on to say that these activities and events included planning exhibitions, screening movies, and television shows, and putting on artistic performances, with one of these taking place at the Cairo Opera House and showcasing traditional dance from Xinjiang. Additionally, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, a traditional music performance was staged alongside Egypt at the Cairo Opera House in 2017. The show features music and attire from all the minorities and nations in the Xinjiang region.
She added that three movies portraying the natural history and social progress of the region had been shown to Egyptian viewers.
She said that by 2023, tourism in Xinjiang would have revived, with 100 million more Chinese visitors expected to travel there.
She made the statement as she expressed her desire to expand the boundaries of cooperation in the field of culture, tourism, and antiquities. She added that Egypt and China have a great civilization, a long history of cooperation, and a shared destiny through the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Belt and Road Initiative places a strong emphasis on learning the cultures, traditions, and customs of the member nations in addition to promoting economic cooperation.
