GEORGETOWN :

Pasar Chowrasta has been selected as the first market in Penang to be accessible on GrabMart .

Chief Minister of Penang Chow Kon Yeow said that the initiative, which is a partnership between the State Government and the Grab Malaysia (Grab) currently involves four industry suppliers.

"It is aimed at enhancing digitalisation for business transactions among traders as well as expanding cashless transaction initiative among the people of Penang," he told reporters after launching the Pasar Chowrasta on GrabMart programme.

In the meantime, Senior Regional Manager of Grab Malaysia Northern & East Coast, Teoh Tsin Yok, said that Pasar Batu Lanchang and Pasar Bayan Baru will be available on GrabMart before August too.

“In March, during the Movement Control Order (MCO) we have launched our very first pasar on GrabMart which is Pasar Besar TTDI, to help safeguard Malaysian livelihoods and small local businesses who were severely impacted.

“Since March, our market vendors have grown by three times, with one of them receiving more than 40 orders in just 15 minutes,” he said.

Consumers in the areas will be able to buy fresh produce, poultry, seafood, and meat from Grab App, pay for the delivery directly with their GrabPay e-wallet, Teoh said.
