SABAH:

Sabah is keen on mutual tourism promotion with Middle East nations. According to state tourist, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, Sabah is considering bilateral tourist marketing with Middle Eastern nations for the benefit of both parties.
According to her, there are good chances for establishing these relationships because the state wants to increase the market for its tourism-related goods.
We can create a framework for bilateral collaboration for business and leisure if we come to an understanding of the essential elements for mutual promotion.
After meeting with a three-person team from Global Travel Service (GTS Group), led by its Malaysia office manager Hisham Awny, Liew said, "For instance, we can exploit the honeymoon market in Egypt, among other countries in the Middle East.
Ibrahim El Aref, managing director of Egypt Promotion, Nancy Zahran, managing director of Travel Link in Jordan, and Alicia Gomes, CEO of local GTS partner Avasi Borneo Tours & Travel, were also in attendance.
The delegation was in Sabah to advertise the Middle East and lure Malaysian tourists to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Egypt, Jordan, Jerusalem, Lebanon, and other Middle Eastern destinations.
But Liew recommended a two-way strategy. Sabah is being promoted across the Middle East by the GTS Group.
After the meeting, she stated that GTS was open to cooperation with both parties.
If state tourism promoters traveled to Egypt, El Aref offered to host a Sabah promotional roadshow for travel agents there soon.
The MATTA Sabah Fair, which will be hosted at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from Friday through Sunday (May 19–21), will also feature businesses from the Middle East.
