Shimano surfcasting challenge will be held for the first time at Selangor

RM165,000 prize awaits the participants of the Shimano Surfcasting Challenge at Remis Beach here this Sunday.

The competition, organized by Shimano, OFT Fishing, Mee Fishing, and Wakjali Event Management, will be held in Selangor for the first time and all the challenge editions were held in Puteri Beach, Malacca.

Event Management Manager Md Zali Kasran said the Shimano Surfcasting Challenge offered a prize of RM104,600 and the winner of the competition would bring home RM60,000 cash.

He said the runner-up would receive RM10,000 and third place RM5,000.

"The fourth winner will take home RM500, fifth RM400 and sixth to 80th will receive RM350.

"The winner of the consolation prize from 81st to 150th place received RM150.

"Like the previous event, organizers are offering a variety of Shimano brand fishing equipment for a draw worth nearly RM60,000," he told.

He said 120 Shimano items including the Stella 8000HG, Aero 4000XG, and Ultegra Surf rods were available to lucky participants.

"The contest runs from 8 am to 12 pm. Registration counters are open from early February at Mee Fah's premises in Shah Alam and Malacca.

"A total of 1,200 long-sleeved T-shirts were provided to participants who signed up early.

"In addition to the lucky draw, Shimano will also give special gifts to participants using Shimano brand fishing equipment," he said.

Md Zali said the prizes were two Horizon Surf Game 450BX units and three Ultegra Surf S500BXG units.

The entry fee is RM100 per rod and each participant can win more than one prize.

T-shirt counting and delivery counters will open in Remis Beach starting at 12 noon this Saturday for 24 hours.
