KUALA TERENGGANU :

The Terengganu government launched the Terengganu State Entertainment, Culture, Tourism and Sports Guidelines to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Islamic law or Shariah compliance.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the guidelines were created in consultation with various stakeholders including the Mufti and would be distributed to all government departments and agencies for reference.

"It is not an enactment or enforcement of the law, no penalty is imposed in the event of a breach of the program applies only to the local authority or the relevant parties in accordance with these guidelines.

"When it comes to ethics or ethics, everything is ethical and there are guidelines that need to be obeyed, so it's not unusual for a state that wants to keep the masses in its prime.

"This is because it is the responsibility of a government to ensure that its people are protected and to avoid any problems that could disrupt harmony," he said after launching the guidelines in conjunction with the Beautiful Living Living in Islamic Civilization (TTI) campaign here today.

Also present were the Chairman of the Shariah Implementation Committee, Education and Higher Education Committee, Satiful Bahari Mamat, Terengganu Syariah Chief Justice Wan Mohd Zaki Wan Mohd and Terengganu Syariah Prosecutor Mustafar Hamzah.

The guidelines are provided as a basis for references to authorities, organizers and the public for organizing and participating in any form of entertainment, cultural, tourism and sports activities to avoid violations of the creed and Shari'ah.

At the function, Dr Ahmad Samsuri also launched a team of Terengganu Shariah volunteers as a step towards upholding Islamic sharia in the community.

To date, more than 500 individuals from all over the state have registered as Shariah volunteers working to assist 100 Shariah law enforcement fighters against crime and indecent activities.

"In enforcing the enforcement of sharia law, I call upon all Shariah law enforcement officers and any person authorized to execute it, always adhering to the principles of justice, acting with discretion, integrity, without prejudice and persecution against any person, which party.

"It is the responsibility of all Shariah enforcement officers to adhere to and adhere to the SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) set forth from time to time," he said.
