Terengganu won four categories at two prestigious tourism awards last year, including the Malaysia Council Gold Awards and the World Top Tourism Awards.

State Tourism, Culture and Information Technology Committee Chairman Ustaz Ariffin Deraman said that for the Tourism Council Gold Award, three selected events including Terengganu Drawbridge were awarded the Best New Tourism Icon.

While the squirrel fishing program is declared as the Best Travel Program while the Dream Stop is rated as the Best Four-Star Resort.

In the meantime, he said Summer Bay Lang Tengah Beach Resort was named the most popular and highest rated Beach Resort for the World Traveler Award.

He said this when addressing Darul Iman Terengganu State Level New Year Celebration and Visit Malaysia 2020 at the Marina Duyong & Resort here yesterday.

Also present were State Assembly Speaker Dato 'Yahaya Ali, State Legal Advisor, Dato' Haji Azhar Abdul Hamid, State Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Chairman Ustaz Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah , Kemaman Member of Parliament, Che Alias ??Hamid and State Assemblywoman (Zuraida) Md Noor.

Meanwhile, the state government listed 26 major events in the Terengganu State Tourism Activity Calendar.
