UAE:

Chinese nationals visiting the regional tourism and business hub will be able to get the Sinopharm vaccine, making them the first non-residents to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the UAE.

Under an agreement between the UAE and China to launch a regional vaccination site, Chinese nationals over the age of 16 with a short-term visa can obtain two doses of Sinopharm in Dubai.

The vaccine, developed by China's state-owned pharma Sinopharm, was tested in Phase III clinical trials in the UAE and is now being manufactured in a joint venture between Sinopharm and Abu Dhabi-based technology firm Group 42.

According to officials, the Gulf Arab state, which has a population of approximately 9 million people, has vaccinated approximately 73 percent of its eligible population.

On Monday, it reported 1,512 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases to 557,610, with 1,654 deaths.

The UAE, which now offers four vaccines, announced this month that it would begin distributing a Sinopharm booster shot.
