SINGAPORE:

A leading Franco-Dutch airline group Air France-KLM has established a new relationship with a Singapore-based travel technology startup called Flying Blue. The new partnership advances utu's goal of reviving the tax-free travel and shopping sectors and offers even more beneficial advantages.

Ben Lipsey, SVP Customer Loyalty, Air France KLM Group, said, "Flying Blue is thrilled to work with utu to bring our members new possibilities to earn Miles when they purchase abroad." "We believe our members will enjoy this cutting-edge relationship, which is a first of its kind for a European airline company."

With over 17 million members, the Flying Blue frequent flyer program run by Air France-KLM is one of the most popular in Europe. With more than 340 flights per day in 2019, Air France-KLM runs the largest transatlantic joint venture with its partners Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic.

Tourists using the utu Tax-Free Card can receive up to 30% more for their tax refunds through the "more for your VAT returns" concept by leveraging incentives from tax-free purchasing, such as frequent flyer miles, hotel points, retail loyalty points, and more.

Sanjay Chinchwade, CMO of utu, said about the new alliance, "We are overjoyed to introduce our new affiliation with Flying Blue. It is the first time that European airlines have joined our expanding network of allies. And it gets even better for European utu travelers because they may now transfer their VAT refunds into one of the most well-known airline frequent flyer programs, that of Air France and KLM."

The reward expansion carries on the biggest revolution in tax-free shopping history. Tax refunds have always been given in cash up until this point.

With effect from August 1, Flying Blue members may:

Receive an "upsize" benefit of US$125 in utu miles for every US$100 tax refund when shopping overseas.
Earn 4,686 miles (US$125 worth) for every US$100 tax refund to the utu Tax-Free Card.
By downloading and linking their accounts to the utu Tax-Free mobile app, Flying Blue users can also benefit from bigger tax returns.

Download the utu Tax-Free mobile app from iOS or Google Play, activate the utu Tax-Free Card, and choose Flying Blue as their preferred refund method to participate.

Once activated, tourists only need to enter their utu Tax-Free Card number when deciding where to send their refund at participating tax refund kiosks in any of the top 50 countries that offer VAT or GST, such as Singapore, France, Italy, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, and the UAE.
