SABAH:

Recording more than 50,000 visitors since it started on Oct 1, the Malaysia Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai is set to attract potential investors, business interests alike and international visitors. Over the next 6 months, the Rainforest Canopy-themed and net zero carbon Malaysia Pavilion will deliver a thematic trade and business cluster of programmes from the participation of 22 ministries, 5 state governments, 70 government agencies and over 300 private companies.

Staged at the Malaysia Pavilion, the Sabah Week will be held on week 12th from 20-24 December 2021. Leading the State Government is the Sabah State Economic Planning Unit and Sabah Tourism Board as the lead agency.

“The Expo 2020 Dubai is an excellent avenue for Sabah to market our destination globally. It is said to be among the first major global business events to open for visitors to be present physically, since the pandemic. As our country moves forward, my ministry has started our aggressive recovery efforts in preparation to welcome back international visitors while we anticipate our international border to open for leisure visitors.” said Datuk Jafry Ariffin, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah.

“Sabah Tourism Board recently attended and participated in a major tourism event, the World Travel Market at London earlier this month. This is our effort to restore the confidence of our UK and Europe market segment. I am determined that the Expo 2020 Dubai will further amplify our global marketing efforts.” he added.

The participation of Sabah Tourism Board hopes to build up the network and capture the interest of international travellers again, especially the Middle East market potential and emerging markets such as India and Turkey.

As a recent member of the global community - Hybrid City Alliance, the state is also strengthening its position in the business events industry by offering business matching prospects and bidding facilities in Sabah during the 5-day Sabah Week.

Sabah Tourism Board welcomes any interested parties to set appointment meetings with the agency at Expo 2020 Dubai. The appointment can be scheduled by registering interest at expo2020dubai.sabahtourism.com.

Joining the Sabah Tourism team from the corporate sectors are representatives from the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Sabah Chapter, the Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (SATTA) and Fun Holidays Sdn Bhd.

Aside from business meetings, the Sabah Tourism delegation is expected to showcase the destination through a series of tourism presentations at the Amphitheatre Malaysia Pavilion.

Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is spearheaded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation as implementing agency
