MALAYSIA:

The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) proudly announces the unprecedented success of the inaugural MAH Domestic Tourism Fair: Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2024, held on July 6 and 7 at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre. This landmark event attracted over 25,000 visitors, marking a significant milestone for Malaysia's domestic tourism industry.

The fair was met with enthusiasm, drawing large crowds eager to secure the best deals on holidays and hotel stays. Participants enjoyed a diverse array of attractions including live music sessions by Persatuan Pemuzik Malaysia, exclusive offers at exhibitor booths, cash vouchers, lucky draws with giveaways totaling RM 300,000, and product showcases. The fair aimed to provide Malaysians with exceptional opportunities to discover great deals on hotels, resorts, attractions, and travel products for memorable staycations.

Addressing the need for more domestically-focused tourism options, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, Organising Chairman & Vice President of MAH, commented, "With rising living costs, many are seeking affordable getaways closer to home. Despite slight increases in operational costs, we want to assure Malaysians that our tourism industry remains both affordable and accessible."

Last year, concerns rose sharply when a significant number of Malaysians visited Thailand, with Malaysians becoming the top arrivals in Thailand in 2023 with 4.56 million visitors. However, a recent Ministry of Economy report indicates a robust surge in domestic tourism in the first quarter of this year compared to 2023, showcasing a strong domestic interest that MAH is committed to nurturing.

As part of MAH’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the fair kicks off a series of events including the second edition of the Hospitality Leadership Conference in August, the Bazaar Cuti-Cuti Malaysia in Penang in August, and a fun run in Port Dickson later in the same month. We warmly invite everyone to join these events and celebrate MAH's golden jubilee.
