The Malaysia Food and Culture Festival 2025 is expected to draw over 10,000 visitors during its two-day run at Samyan Mitrtown in Bangkok, held from June 29 to 30. Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), the festival aims to strengthen the country’s tourism visibility in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who officiated the event as part of his working visit to Bangkok, said the strategic location—adjacent to a major university, business district, and leisure hub—offers access to a daily footfall of approximately 50,000.
“We anticipate at least 20 per cent of that footfall to engage with the festival. This is an ideal platform to connect with a diverse demographic including students, professionals, and families,” he told Bernama.
The festival features authentic Malaysian culinary delights, traditional performances, and travel promotions designed to highlight the nation’s cultural richness and travel offerings. It aligns with Malaysia’s broader tourism objectives of attracting 43 million international visitors and generating RM283.8 billion in receipts by 2025.
According to Tourism Malaysia, Thailand contributed 2.26 million tourists to Malaysia in 2024, generating RM3.994 billion in revenue. The festival is expected to further boost Thai interest in Malaysian destinations.
“Bringing our food, culture, and hospitality to a high-traffic area like Samyan Mitrtown allows us to directly engage potential travellers and encourage cross-border tourism,” said Tiong.
