PENANG:

An exhibition showcasing original works from artists in residence, Koh Kai Ting and Aw Boon Xin created through the Cahaya XR annual lab and mentorship program, an initiative by Penang-based digital studio Maitree. The artists have been mentored by international VR artist Michelle Brown, who has exhibited work at Cannes XR, Sundance Film Festival, and Dreamland XR Festival, and collaborated with Snapchat and Google, among many others.

This year’s Cahaya XR Mentorship programme, in partnership with The Habitat Foundation, has received essential support from both the Penang Art District and Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD). YSD’s contribution has been instrumental in facilitating the participation of artists Koh Kai Ting and Aw Boon Xin in this year’s mentorship programme, significantly enriching the local art scene. Beyond financial support, YSD’s involvement is a reflection of their commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and cultural heritage preservation through art initiatives.
