SELANGOR:

The allocation of RM5.85 million in the Selangor 2021 Budget, to develop and revitalise the tourism sector, is entirely for tourism promotion, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said that the allocation given did not include operational costs, as there was a separate provision that Tourism Selangor would manage.

“The state government has the Tourism Selangor agency for managing and the amount I mentioned is for tourism promotions only,” he said in reply to a question raised by Persatuan Pengembaraan dan Pelancongan Selangor (SAFTTA) president Dr Fathir Badri Alhadad.

Fathir expressed disappointment in a statement that Selangor Budget 2021 had a total tourism allocation to the State that was considered small compared to the RM 130.11 million allocated by the Penang government for its tourism sector.

Amirudin was speaking to reporters after the post-flood visit and gotong-royong programme at Taman Sri Nanding community hall in Kuala Langat here.
