KUALA TERENGGANU:

People in Terengganu are advised not to panic and believe any fake news about the Novel Coronavirus infection in the state.

State Welfare, Women & Family Development and National Unity Committee chairwoman Hanafiah Mat confirmed the matter after news broke that a child suspected of Coronavirus was released from Kemaman Hospital.

Instead, he said, the parents of the child did not understand what the doctor was saying because of a language communication problem and took the child back to the ECRL site instead of running away.

"Furthermore, the child has only been diagnosed with Coronavirus and has not yet been positive for the disease as it has been reported on social sites.

"Any further information will be announced by the Director-General of Terengganu Hospital shortly, the Kemaman people, in particular, should not panic and believe the rumors," he said in a statement.

He, who is also Chukai state assemblyman, said the child had been taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), here for quarantine.

"The hospital sought the help of the Police to locate the child. Police immediately took action with the parents of the child at ECRL.

"He later took the child in an ambulance and was taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah General Hospital in Kuala Terengganu," he added.

Meanwhile, Terengganu State Health Director Dr. Azimi Yunus confirmed a five-year-old Chinese girl was receiving treatment at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).

However, the investigation found that the child did not meet the criteria for suspected Patient Under Investigation (PUI) or Coronavirus.

The hospital provided regular treatment for the child.

The child was admitted to the hospital at the hospital about 6.15 pm,

It was reported that the child and his parents went to Kemaman Hospital at 13.34 pm for treatment.
