The state government through the Terengganu State Tourism Department has partnered with the country's leading Islamic television station, AlHijrah TV in promoting state tourism promotion.

Chairman of the state Tourism, Culture and Information Technology Committee, Ariffin Deraman described the move as part of an effort to stand in line with other states that are now exemplifying Terengganu in the field of tourism.

He also called on the indigenous peoples who are either outside Terengganu or overseas to work together to promote Terengganu to the international community.

“The state of Terengganu is well known for its cultural arts and crafts such as batik, songket, copper and others. So to assemble it in a place that is easy for tourists to visit, the state government has launched a new product, the Terengganu Cultural Village.

"We are promoting the people to come to Terengganu where we also have a new iconic lift bridge or drawbridge that has been attracting visitors since it opened last August," he said.

He said this when interviewed live in the Assalamualaikum program at AlHijrah TV station, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Also present in the interview was Terengganu Tourism Director Ab Rasid Jusoh.

According to Ariffin, the Terengganu Cultural Village will be housed in the Terengganu State Museum highlighting the diverse arts, culture and heritage of the local community.

"We've put together a traditional Malay house Terengganu and there will be collected art and culture from all regions in the country," he said.

The promotion program was also accompanied by representatives of Darul Iman Information Secretariat (UPDI), led by its director, Mohd Soud Said who visited AlHIjrah TV technology and management in an effort to improve the quality of Terengganu state information transmission.
