UCSI University S’wak’s Dr. Hiram Ting made a member of the UNWTO Panel of Tourism Experts

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Panel of Tourism Experts has welcomed Dr. Hiram Ting as a member.

Ting is responsible for providing his views on the assessment of tourism performance and near- term prospects while serving as an associate professor at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at UCSI University Sarawak.

The UNWTO Tourism Confidence Index will be updated using this information as a foundation.

According to a press release, UNWTO is in charge of promoting ethical, environmentally friendly, and easily accessible travel.

The UNWTO, the world's foremost organization in the tourism industry, champions tourism as a force for economic growth, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability. It also provides the industry with leadership and assistance as it works to advance global tourism knowledge and policies.

Media outlets and organizations all around the world frequently use the opinion of the UNWTO Panel of Tourism Experts.

At his office here yesterday, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, congratulated Ting on his appointment and gave him the certificate.

He characterized the appointment as important for Sarawak and Malaysia in addition to his ministry.

"I was told that the UNWTO need a person from Southeast Asia or the Far East to enhance their data and analysis about tourist barometers and outputs.

Hiram stated that it was an honor to be a part of the panel of tourism experts.
