The highly anticipated second edition of the Tourism Golf Malaysia – Amateur Golf Tournament 2025 (TGMAGT) is set to take place on July 12 and 13 at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to positioning itself as a premier golf tourism destination ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Organised with strong support from Tourism Malaysia, the two-day tournament has attracted 128 amateur golfers, including 20 international players from Southeast Asia. The competition is open to both men and women, and will be held across KLGCC’s East Course (July 12) and West Course (July 13), using the System 36 scoring format.
Chairman of the tournament organising committee, Datuk Richard Lee, expressed optimism about the event’s impact: “We are committed to using the Tourism Golf Malaysia platform to showcase Malaysia’s golf offerings and promote year-round tourism. With our abundance of top-tier courses, Malaysia is well positioned to become a leading golf tourism hub.”
Tourism Malaysia’s Senior Director of Advertising and Digital Division, Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, who also leads the VM2026 secretariat, attended the launch and underscored golf as a key tourism niche in the national campaign.
The tournament is sanctioned by the Malaysian Golf Association and supported by a notable list of sponsors including HSBC Malaysia, AirAsia, Batik Air, Mastercard, Mazda, CIT, MST Golf, and Tourism Malaysia. Among the exciting prizes are 20 pairs of AirAsia flight tickets, travel vouchers, and a Mazda CX-8 for the hole-in-one winner.
This flagship golf event is expected to build strong momentum for VM2026, reinforcing Malaysia’s image as a world-class golf destination and a top choice for leisure travelers.
