London:

The world’s oldest travel company, Cox & Kings (C&K), is set to enter a bold new chapter of global expansion under the strategic direction of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group (AKTG), which acquired the historic brand in 2019.

Established in 1758, Cox & Kings is renowned for its legacy of curating exceptional travel experiences. Now, with the backing of AKTG, the brand is preparing to extend its presence into key international markets, including the United States and Australia.

“This is both a privilege and a responsibility,” said AKTG Executive Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio. “Reimagining a brand as storied as Cox & Kings requires honoring its heritage while evolving it for modern travellers. As with Crystal, we’re bringing new energy to a historic name.”

AKTG Chief Sales Officer Marett Taylor echoed the sentiment, highlighting the group’s dedication to preserving C&K’s legacy. “Our commitment to authentic experiences and exceptional service will remain the cornerstone of the Cox & Kings offering as we expand globally.”

With a refreshed website launched in 2024 and seamless integration into A&K’s global Destination Management Company (DMC) network, Cox & Kings is positioned to offer more expansive and immersive itineraries. These include experiences aligned with A&K Philanthropy initiatives in destinations such as Egypt, Jordan, Peru, and across Africa.

The expansion will be spearheaded by newly appointed Managing Director Jennifer Charlton, a travel industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. Charlton, who will also retain her role as Senior Vice-President for Sales and Business Development for UK & EMEA, aims to broaden the brand’s global footprint while maintaining the hallmark of culturally rich and detailed travel experiences.

“I’m honoured to lead this exciting chapter for Cox & Kings,” said Charlton. “With the support of AKTG’s global network, we are set to bring the spirit of Cox & Kings to new markets and travellers worldwide.”

Charlton’s career includes leadership roles at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, CWT, and Amex GBT. Recognised in 2019 as one of the top 40 women in global travel, she is also a key contributor to the IATA NDC Agent working party.

Under AKTG’s stewardship, Cox & Kings continues to blend tradition with innovation, ensuring its iconic legacy thrives in today’s dynamic travel landscape.
