TAIWAN:

If you've driven a lot in the past few weeks, you may have seen a car with a Taiwanese theme making its way around the Klang Valley.

To draw more Malaysian tourists to Taiwan, 200 specially created OhBear Cars are driving around cities for three months, showcasing all that the nation has to offer.

The campaign's goal, according to Abe Chou, director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration's Kuala Lumpur office, was to persuade Malaysians to make Taiwan their top tourist destination in 2024.

The automobiles' designs were created by local artist Stanley Goh on contract.

Goh, who is also the head of the Malaysia Art Education Association, intended his theme designs to capture the lively and enjoyable experiences that Taiwan has to offer.

Three travel-related topics are covered by his designs: "Muslim-friendly," "Taiwan's Hot Springs," and "Railway Tourism."

Goh claimed that designing the Taiwan OhBear Cars took a long time and that it was his first experience painting automobile bodies.

Dr. Joy Yen, deputy head of the Malaysian Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, stated that Malaysia was a significant source of incoming tourists for Taiwan.

Over two-half a million Malaysian visitors visited Taiwan between January and August of this year.

Furthermore, the Taiwan Tourism Administration's Kuala Lumpur office is presenting the "Taiwan the Lucky Land" promotion, which allows foreign visitors to enter and win a NT$5,000 (RM800) prize.

All participants have to do is snap pictures of Taiwan OhBear Cars on the road and post them to Facebook or Instagram to be eligible to win round-trip tickets to Taiwan.

Taiwan is ranked third among Muslim travel destinations that are not affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, according to the Mastercard 2023 Global Muslim Travel Index.

There are currently over 300 hotels and restaurants in Taiwan that are certified halal. LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre in Kuala Lumpur hosted the campaign launch.

TV host Yasmin Hani Richardson, China Airlines general manager James Tang, Taiwan Trade Center director Eva Peng, vice-president of the Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall Datuk Ada Poon, StarLux Airlines general manager Hsu Chien-wen, Eva Airlines general manager Jack Tseng, and President Paul Paw of the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association were also present at the launch.
