KEDAH:

Five "YouTubers" from overseas will take part in the "Jom Mai Kedah Roadtrip" program, which aims to enable their countries to introduce and support the state.

The programme is organised by Kedah Tourism and will include participants from Germany, Portugal, Canada and the Philippines, said State Tourism, Arts and Culture, Youth and Sports, Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Committee chairman Mohd Firdaus Ahmad.

“The programme was supposed to start this month but had to be postponed as the country's entry points were closed following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Once it is launched, it’s expected to garner 120,000 views for each vlog uploaded on the participants' YouTube sites," he said when answering a question from Hanif Ghazali (PAS-Tanjung Dawai) regarding efforts to attract tourists to the state at the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.

The 21 vlogs will include information about the Kedah tourist attractions and introduce lesser-known districts, apart from Langkawi, Mohd Firdaus said.

"We will also upgrade and carry out repair works at several tourist spots, including the Ulu Legong Hot Spring Recreation Centre in Baling and the Paddy Museum," he said.
