Himalaya Airlines launches charter flights to stimulate Chinese tourism

The week, Himalaya Airlines commenced the first of a series of charter flight services to stimulate Chinese tourism to the region.

The airline operated the first of its charter flight services from Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG), Peoples Republic of China to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, Nepal this week.

On Thursday April 13, 2023, Himalaya Airlines’ Airbus A320 landed 180 Chinese tourist passengers in the Nepalese capital, and will then welcome total 700 more passengers in the upcoming charter flights from Kunming to Kathmandu.

After three years of COVID-19 pandemic related restrictions, the goal is to increase the inflow of tourists to Nepal.

This is a major step taken by Himalaya Airlines, initiating Nepal’s first Charter flight services from China to Nepal, bringing Chinese tourists in the nation.

H9 Vice President, Mr. Vijay Shrestha expressed his excitement and thanked the Chinese and Nepalese government officials for their support in making the charter flight service possible. He also added:

“This is a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral relations between Nepal and China. We are proud to facilitate the movement of passengers between these two important countries and plan to increase this relationship with more Chinese destination in the coming days.”
