Neighbors support Bangladesh’s tourism drive

Last week, the Bangladesh Chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) organized an event called "Cross-Border Tourism with Neighbours" in cooperation with the Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, and all other associations in Dhaka and Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

The purpose of the event was to encourage domestic tourism in Bangladesh and cross-border travel between nearby nations. The event was attended by 250 tourist industry participants from Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, representing both the governmental and commercial sectors.

The Nepal delegation was led by Bibhu Thakur, chairman of the PATA Nepal Chapter, and included thirteen tourism industry leaders from Nepal. Sixteen Indian tourism business owners attended the event at the invitation of Shahid Hamid FIH, chairman of the PATA Bangladesh Chapter, under the leadership of Samrat Sanyal, general secretary of the Himalayan Hospitality & Tourism Development Network (HHTDN), situated in Siliguri, India.

Bangladesh's Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, M Mahbub Ali, gave the five-day event its official opening. The planners helped arrange FAM tours for foreign participants so they could tour the nation's tourist hotspots before attending a B2B meeting between foreign delegates and local tourism entrepreneurs and stakeholders in Bangladesh's cities of Dhaka and Cox's Bazar.

The following organizations supported the event, which was organized by the PATA Bangladesh Chapter: Visa, the Bangladesh Tourism Board, the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, the Tourist Police Bangladesh, the PATA Nepal Chapter, HHTDN, Novo Air, US Bangla Airlines, the Dhaka Regency Hotel & Resort, the Best Western Plus Maya, DBC News, Convoy Service, Silver Wave Tours Ltd., the Intercontinental Dhaka, the Riverain Tours, Saint Martin Travels, Green Holidays.
