Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA ) has announced its theme for 2020: ‘Partnerships for tomorrow”, in-line with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. The primary focus of this partnership is to achieve the goal for sustainable development, to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development. During the PATA Board meeting held in conjunction with PATA Travel Mart 2019, an announcement was made by Mario Hardy, CEO, Pacific Asia Travel Association.
In the meeting, Hardy said” The world is experiencing dramatic social, political, environmental and economic changes, particularly in relation with the potentially irreversible change that is made to the planet caused by the change in the climate. Against the backdrop, there’s an urgent need to work towards the development of a more responsible and sustainable travel industry.
He added” The challenges that we face are complex and requires coordination from all industry stakeholders across all sectors. Only through concerted efforts we can preserve and protect the world for further generations to come.”Also, the agenda for 2030 that has been adopted by the United Nations provides an ambiguous idea of the agency basically ventured around peace, prosperity, people and the planet. The 17 SGDs that are created calls for action for all countries and organisations to end poverty, inequality, injustice along with climate change by 2030.
To achieve the set goal PATA has partnered with both private and public sector and invited all the industry stakeholders across domains to embrace the well being of the planet with sustainability and contribute to the vision of PATA for 2020.
