The Penang Global Tourism (PGT) and Klook, a world-leading travel and leisure booking platform have teamed up to launch a four-month partnership with the “Raise Your Heartbeat in Penang” campaign. Supported by YB Yeoh Soon Hin, Penang State EXCO for Tourism & Creative Economy (PETACE), both PGT and Klook will introduce a series of marketing initiatives to encourage Malaysians to choose Penang as one of the must-visit destinations in the country. Both organisations also share a common goal to help local businesses digitise their offerings and thrive in the new norm.

Named as “Raise Your Heartbeat in Penang'', this partnership aims to diversify Penang’s offerings and showcase off-the-beaten-path and less visited areas. We have been connecting local businesses, especially the licensed tour guides to Klook so they could digitise their businesses and capture the first wave of recovery when people are ready to travel again,” Yeoh continued.
The “Raise Your Heartbeat in Penang” campaign has four focus areas:
Digitisation of Penang travel and leisure businesses: With the aim to diversify Penang’s offerings to showcase off-the-beaten-path and less visited areas, both Penang Global Tourism and Klook will identify local businesses to be onboarded to Klook’s platform. The product categories can range from Experiences, Transportation, Staycation to Food and Entertainment, which are all available on Klook’s platform. The onboarded merchants will get to enjoy Klook’s suite of technology-enabled merchant solutions, using it as a tool to reach new target audiences and enhance their digital marketing capabilities.
Curation of a series of exclusive tours and activities with value-added perks: Klook will collaborate with its existing and new merchants to develop new and exclusive activities. Some of the activities will be curated into bespoke bundles with attractive offers to appeal to different interest groups, such as the gourmet hunters who want the best of Penang cuisines, the daredevils who seek outdoor fun, the value seekers who are open to trying out any new activities that are value-added to their spending.
Content development: To encourage further exploration around Penang, Klook will collaborate with a pool of key content partners and opinion leaders to create authentic stories. From reviews on their social media channels to running a Livestream event on Klook Live, they are able to highlight the hidden gems and value-added promotions, as well as to raise awareness for home-grown businesses around Penang. Both PGT and Klook will also curate content and promote them to owned channels as well.
Digital marketing: Both PGT and Klook will also co-invest in digital marketing initiatives, such as search engine marketing, display and social media advertising. This is to enhance the reach and searchability of the various promotions and offerings under this partnership and to create top-of-mind awareness of choosing Penang as one of the must-visit destinations when travelling domestically.
