SARAWAK:

The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and 16 industry partners will be promoting tourism offerings highlighting Sarawak's attractions at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.

STB deputy chief executive officer Suriya Charles Buas said the fair's new exhibition format allowed Sarawak's arts and crafts to be showcased.

"With tour operators and non-trade exhibitors strategically placed, visitors to the booth can learn more about the packages offered.

"They can also shop for Sarawak's handicrafts that reflect the beauty of our heritage and denote the reason behind Kuching being recognised as a World Craft City by the World Craft Council," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Besides STB, non-trade exhibitors include Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Sarawak Craft Council, Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak and Borneo Street KL.

Tour packages on offer include leisure activities, visiting traditional longhouses, diving, kayaking, mountain climbing and tasting Sarawak's food and beverages.

Throughout the fair on Sept 1-3, visitors to the Sarawak Pavilion can look forward to sape musical performances and arts and cultural activities.
