Selangor committed to increase number of tourist arrivals in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2020

The Ministry Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) together with Tourism Malaysia, Tourism Selangor, Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya and the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage (PADAT) body hosted the launching of Visit Malaysia 2020, Selangor state level, yesterday.

PADAT Executive Councillor for Tourism, Culture, Malay Customs and Heritage Selangor, Datuk Abdul Rashid bin Asari who attended the event said Selangor has received 7.23 million tourists, of which Singapore making up the largest amount of 316,230 tourists.

“This is a great achievement and could be further enhanced by the state's tourism industry as a whole which should boost the state and country’s economic development”, he said during his speech at Eastin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

He also mentioned on various tourism activities lined up for next year such as the Selangor Marathons 2020, Selangor Cruise festival, Selangor Golf Open 2020, REGATA 2020, Selangor International Indigenous Arts Festival ??and more in conjunction of Visit Malaysia 2020.

He hopes that everyone will work together and support the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign to increase tourist arrivals to the state.

In his opening speech, Deputy Tourism Arts and Culture minster Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik congratulated the Selangor state for their commitment and support given to make Visit Malaysia 2020 a success .

He also hopes that the state government through tourism will continue to work with MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia to boost the tourism industry in the state.
