LAOS:

According to the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, the government wants to welcome more visitors between now and 2025 by increasing the quality of tourism-related goods and services and removing barriers to travel.

By including more environmentally friendly and sustainable characteristics, planned developments hope to improve the quality of cultural, historical, and agricultural tourism. They also hope to facilitate regional and international integration and position tourism as a key economic engine that will help bring people out of poverty.

According to national and international standards, the authorities intend to build and improve the quantity and quality of tourism-related infrastructure and facilities. This entails constructing amenities at Laos-China Railway stations, such as visitor centers and boutiques offering regional goods.

To make Laos a popular tourist destination, tourism officials will do more to accommodate visitors using the Laos-China railway and will enhance ecotourism products and community- based tourism to satisfy national and regional standards.

The government will promote Laos as a destination for top-notch and secure ecotourism and community-based tourism, and land, air, and water tourism services will also be upgraded.

Target markets in Asean will be the focus of numerous marketing initiatives, activities, and events, and there will be increased reliance on media and technology to reach these markets.

Additionally, the government intends to improve the governance of associations and travel companies, as well as associations for hotels, restaurants, and tour operators.

Regional and international cooperation in the development and management of tourism will be strengthened, and provinces that do not already have such groups will be encouraged to form them.

Laos' tourist destinations have been mentioned in many foreign publications and websites. For instance, a February article on the Conde? Nast Traveler website highlighted river cruises through the Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park in Huaphan province as one of the top 10 night safaris in the world.

The American magazine Time listed Luang Prabang as one of the top 50 destinations to visit in 2023 in its March issue.

The turquoise waterfalls, Buddhist temples, and sunset boat cruises on the Mekong River, to name just a few of the province's highlights, were described by the magazine as "a hidden paradise" in Luang Prabang.

Over the past two years and five months, about 5.6 million tourists visited Laos, bringing in more than US$631 million.

Nearly 3 million of these tourists were Lao nationals, while 2.6 million (or 17% of the target number) came from other nations.
