BUTTERWORTH :

The Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF) 2020 presents an illustration of the men creating the Batik mural at Dataran Merdeka, Butterworth.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee (PETACH) chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said through the EPY2020 campaign, PETACH will support and promote Seberang Perai as to the tourist.

"Seberang Perai is the catalyst for the future growth of the state tourism sector, and the state government hopes that it will be recognized as the hub of the arts and culture and the most exciting eco-tourism destination in the country," he said at the launch of the container art installation at Dataran Merdeka, Butterworth.

The launch included few activities for the public such as designing postcard using washi tapes, Batik Painting and making grasshopper out of coconut leaves.

Also present at the launch are Penang State EXCO for Welfare, Caring Society and Environment  Yb Phee Boon Poh, Bagan Dalam Assemblyperson Yb Satees Muniandy and Seberang Perai City Council ( MBSP) mayor Dato Seri Haji Rozali Mahamud.

Seberang Perai City Council ( MBSP) mayor Dato Seri Haji Rozali Mahamud said that this is another product to attract tourist to Butterworth.

He also added that this is one of the products of Penang's Up-Cycle which uses recycled containers for mural drawings.

Meanwhile, Bagan Dalam Assemblyperson Yb Satees Muniandy told TIN Media that PICAF is boosting tourist arrival internationally and domestically to Butterworth.

" This is boosting our economy here, the hotels are full most of the time and we have space here. Compare to Penang Island our traffic here is moderate and we should utilize this to bring in more travellers here" he said.

He also added that Penang Sentral is also helping tourist to drop-by Butterworth because of the ferry ride.

The organizers also featured Sada Borneo yesterday for the launch and 25 food trucks.

Do visit all five container arts in Penang before end of May 2020. Don't miss the chance!
