PENANG:

In the first Penang International Coastal Run 2020 experience scheduled for 15 March, the Penang government targeted around 10,000 adults and 2,000 children.

Yeoh Soon Hin, Chief Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage of Penang said the 5-kilometer run for those from 6 to 12 years old would include a 5-kilometer sprint, while participants from 13 and older would be 11.5 kilometers long.

"We want to encourage young children to run and thus to use 5 kilometers to promote a healthy lifestyle exclusively for children. Junior runners should be joined by a parent during a fun run," he said today.

Yeoh has also pointed out that five food tasters along the coastal road that delivers free food from Penang Street are one of the attractive highlights for the race.

"This is a whole new experience for participants to take part in healthy activities and to participate in Penang's favorite hobby," he said.

The 5 km and 11,5 km trails start and end at Persiaran Bayan Indah on the coastal route to Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (seconde bridge of Penang).

The 5 km point will be at the turning point in the vicinity of the factory in Keysight Technologies whereas on the 11,5 km road in front of a roundabout in Batu Maung.

The coastal registration is available at https:/www.epcoastalrun.gov.my/ online and will be closed on Feb 15.
