From 21 to 24 November 2019, the Sabah Master Championship will make an eventful return to the Asian Tour calendar. Sutera Harbor Golf and Country Club are hosting this year's championship, right after the 25th World Amateur Golf Club Sabah organized last October.
Organized by Arus Erajaya Sdn Bhd and sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM), Sabah Masters is expected to draw 144 foreign professional golfers, including renowned Malaysian professional golfers such as Ben Leong alongside the top 25 PGM players.
The four-day competition offers winners with a cash purse of USD300,000 (RM 1.24mil). This is the Asian Tour's twentieth venue out of the 24 scheduled for this year.
Several Malaysian sponsors and strong support from the government agencies with Tourism Malaysia, which play a key role in promoting Malaysia to foreign golfers, strengthened Malaysia's road to Sabah Masters.
"When we want to promote Malaysia as a golf paradise with a global level of facilities and value-for-money destination, Tourism Malayasia is glad to support Sabah Masters," said YBhg.Tourism Chairman of Malaysia Datuk Ahmad Shah Hussein Tambakau."With our Malaysian hospitality and charm as well as exciting golf destinations we welcome aspiring professional golfers to Malaysia and look forward to win them over." He added.
For VM2020 Malaysia will be hosting major events including the Asia Golf Tourism Agreement and the Maybank Championship 2020 edition between 31 March and 3 April 2020. The Golf Club Managers Association of Malaysia (GCMAM) has expected to have 370,000 foreign golfers coming to the country in 2020 with an approximate revenue of RM 1,1 billion in the country with more than 100 wonderful golf courses across Malaysia.
