George Town:

The “Love Our Turtles: IKHTIAR Foundation Call-to-Action 2025 (LOTIF2025)” program was officially launched today at the historic Penang Town Hall by YB Fahmi Zainol, Penang State EXCO for Agrotechnology, Food Security & Cooperative Development, representing the Chief Minister of Penang.

Organised by IKHTIAR Foundation with the support of the Penang State Government, co-hosted by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), and implemented in partnership with CIC Capital Consultancy Sdn. Bhd., the campaign runs from 15 August to 14 September 2025. It aims to promote marine conservation through education, culture, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Carrying the theme #PulanglahPenyu (Return, Turtles), the initiative is aligned with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025 under the banner “Inclusivity and Sustainability.”

Key highlights of LOTIF2025 include:

  • Love Our Turtles Exhibition

  • International Sustainability Congress (3–4 September 2025), co-organised with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)

  • Turtle Release Ceremony (14 September 2025), to be officiated by His Excellency Tun Dato’ Seri DiRaja Ramli Ngah Talib, Governor of Penang

In addition, nine side activities and six workshops will be held throughout the month-long campaign.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness, promote eco-tourism, and encourage active public participation in environmental protection. Members of the public are invited to join the exhibitions, programmes, and workshops.
