Port Dickson:

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) has allocated RM10.14 million to Negeri Sembilan this year under the Restoration, Conservation, Renovation and Upgrading Programme (PPUN), aimed at preserving heritage sites and boosting the state’s tourism appeal.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the allocation reflects the federal government’s holistic commitment to safeguarding the state’s cultural identity while strengthening its tourism sector. A total of 18 projects have been approved in districts including Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jelebu and Tampin.

Key initiatives include the RM1.2 million conservation and relocation of Masjid Lama Parit Istana to the Masjid Tanjung Beringin area, and RM800,000 for upgrading Masjid Tanjung Beringin into an inclusive heritage and worship centre. Other works involve lighting and landscaping enhancements at the Port Dickson Clock Tower, landmark maintenance, and ecotourism development at Gunung Datuk, Kenaboi and Ulu Bendul eco forest parks.

Additionally, RM500,000 has been set aside for upgrading the Pulau Burung jetty and watchtower (phase two), boosting maritime tourism and biodiversity conservation.

Tourism Malaysia’s accommodation survey showed Negeri Sembilan welcomed 0.46 million international tourists in 2024, a 35.1% increase from 2023, placing it sixth among Malaysia’s top destinations.
