The Penang Signature Gold, Gems & Jewellery Fair (PSG) 2025 officially opened today at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, reaffirming its position as one of Penang’s most prestigious business-to-business platforms for the gold and jewellery trade.
Since its inception in 2016, the event has grown into a critical sourcing, networking, and knowledge-sharing hub, attracting industry leaders, exhibitors, and trade buyers from around the world. Organised by Elite Expo Sdn Bhd, co-organised by the Penang Goldsmiths and Jewellers Association (PGJA), and supported by the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) under PETACE, the fair runs from 15–17 August and features more than 120 exhibition booths.
This year’s exhibitors hail from China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, India, Japan, and Malaysia, offering a comprehensive showcase of gold, fine jewellery, gemstones, precious metals, machinery, and packaging innovations. The event is expected to gather around 85% of Malaysia’s gold industry players and attract over 5,000 professional buyers from across ASEAN, the Middle East, and beyond.
The fair also highlights Penang’s growing aviation connectivity, with 14 new international and three domestic direct flights added since August 2023, positioning the state as a key hub for Northern Malaysia and Northern Sumatra.
A series of high-level forums will complement the exhibition, including a Market Development Grant seminar by MATRADE, a keynote on global gold price trends by the World Gold Council, and a panel discussion on ASEAN’s gold jewellery market outlook.
The event takes place amid rising global gold demand, driven by central bank purchases as geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and inflation concerns persist. In Q2 2025, global gold demand reached 1,249 tonnes, valued at USD 132 billion — a 45% increase year-on-year.
The PSG 2025 aims to not only showcase Malaysia’s heritage in gold craftsmanship but also foster partnerships and position Penang as an international hub for the gold and jewellery trade.
