Hosting of concerts and stage plays is now allowed to accommodate more than 250 people

According to the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the hosting of the concerts and stage plays is now allowed to accommodate more than 250 people.

However, organizers should maintain social distancing between members of the audience in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 outbreaks and to comply with the Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs).

As an example, Nancy referred  Panggung Sari, the Istana Budaya will only accommodate 505 people despite having 1,413 seats.

The minister said this after attending the New Normal Concert at Istana Budaya

On 10 July, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) announced that the maximum number of religious, social, and official event participants will be subject to event space and maintain a safe distance from each other from 15 July.

Nancy said that the issue has been addressed with MKN on the SOP for outdoor or indoor concerts and will then be confirmed subject to approval.
