JOHAR:

Johor Women Development and Tourism Committee chairman Liow Cai Tung said the RM15 million allocation announced in the Johor 2020 Budget is specifically to promote the Visit Johor Year 2020.

According to her, the latest promotional move that Johor Tourism wants is to focus on the cooperation with influential people on social media and the digital field.

"The digital technology is able to attract tourists who use social media as a source of information for a location. In the early stage, a meeting between the state government and social media personalities will be held so that the group can get information on tourism destinations in Johor," she said.

She said this when met by reporters while attending the Children's Day Celebration Program at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital.

Cai Tung said in addition to promoting the digital sector, the state government was also looking to improve facilities in selected areas and focus on Johor tourism-based programs next year.

"With the existing amount, we also have enough money to further develop the products or promotions we have previously held," she said.

Earlier, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal in presenting the Johor 2020 Budget recently said the allocation would focus on improving tourism infrastructure, promotion aspects and organizing tourism events.
