KUALA LUMPUR :

RM152,700 has been allocated to help tour operators in Kenyar Lake whose businesses suffered from the COVID 19 pandemic by the Central Terengganu Development Authority, KETENGAH.

The fund will be allocated to the owners of the ship boats and operators at the island, said its president, Datuk Razali Idris.

“We are aware that the closure of all the economic sectors since March 18 has had a huge impact on people's income. Therefore, this contribution is an initiative to help the tourism sector in Lake Kenyir to remain competitive, ”he said when presenting the contribution to the recipients.

The beneficiaries included 33 operators, RM500 each, 20 operators of speed boats, and 8 operators receiving RM400 each, as well as 25 operators of the boathouse, who each received RM5000.

Razali said the tourism response was overwhelming since the resort was reopened on June 12 following the implementation of the RMCO.

“Now tourists can enjoy a 20 percent discount on all packages in Lake Kenyir. For example, a two-day boat package is only RM1,800 compared to RM2,000 previously,” he added.

He advised the Lake Kenyir Tourism Association to conduct workshops for their members to help them with their business.
